NPC Stat blocks

I've been creating a number of NPCs, Monsters, and other creature stat blocks and working on digitizing them for a full PDF. 

This is Chops, 

They are a street punk from the Rotten Core Gang, who is best friends with the low level antagonist. Chops loves to Craft paper creatures, and ride his motorcycle with his childhood friend Cosmic Crisp. 

This Level 0 Foe, could be an ally if you play your cards right.

Ability Scores and Dice pools

You probably noticed the abbreviated POW, SPD, WIS and so on. These are the abbreviations for the core Ability scores of Universe Zero: Power, Speed, Health, Smarts, Wisdom, Social, Resistance, Ki/Energy, and Magic. 

Each ability score does not necessarily represent your superiority over other people but instead represents your ability to wield your abilities in Combat, scholastic, and novel situations. 

Target Numbers

A key element of Universe Zero are Target Numbers. Similar to other Table tops that require you to roll a number or higher, a Target number is just that.

When you roll your pool of dice, you are looking to meet or beat the Target number. This can be for launching a successful attack, completing a skill check, or resisting an opponent's abilities. 

Dice Pools

Universe Zero uses Dice pools as a resource for your attacks, and skills. You can see in this NPC stat block the following dice pools. 

Initiative (INIT). this pool represents your ability to launch into action and join in the action along with how many times you can take a turn per round. 

Action (ACT). General purpose dice you can use for any dice roll. 

Combat (COM). Typically, a physical attack or combat action. In some situations it may be used for skills or other techniques. 

Defense (DEF). This dice pool is typically used to defend from attacks or may be used in defense skill-based dice rolls (Hiding, Insight, etc). 

Will (WIL). This pool represents your power of will and ability to resist social or mental influences. 

Charisma (CHA). Similar to other systems, this represents your ability to express yourself to others and emit your presence to the world around you. 

Ki/Energy (KI/E). This is the spiritual, or mechanical energy that courses through you. this pool represents your ability to control that energy. 

Magic (MAG). This is your ability to manipulate or control the energy from the world around you. 

Life (LIFE). This pool is tied to your natural ability to recover from injury, or resist possible ailments, poisons, and other physical stressors. 

Dice Pools are derived from your Ability scores.
